Will Rogers Rose Garden Maternity Session

I loved this maternity session at the Will Rogers Rose Garden in Oklahoma City! I’ve never shot there before and the hours are sometimes tricky for clients since the indoor display is only open from nine to five Monday through Friday. This lovely expectant couple took time off work to meet me there 🙂

It’s no wonder this garden is a popular wedding venue. I actually ran into a friend and her daughter while I took this photographs!

It’s so important that maternity photographers to think on their feet. I believe any location has hidden potential just waiting to be discovered. The rose garden certainly has obvious beauty due to the colorful plants and large windows, but I found a secret asset that many other maternity photographers would have probably overlooked: huge fans!

Not only do the fans offer comfort to expectant mamas, especially on a hot summer day in August in Oklahoma! But the fans also offered beautiful directional “wind” that was the perfect ingredient to making this lovely gown from Sew Trendy billow in a high-fashion elegance.

I actually purchased this gown specifically for this maternity session. A fellow photographer friend had hosted a floral crown party where I had made a Fall colored floral crown. I was so please with the way it turned out that I simply couldn’t wait to use it! The burgundy gown coordinated perfectly with the crown, which is adjustable and can fit teens and small children in addition to adults.

The best thing about the gown is the sizing. This particular gown can accommodate almost any pregnant woman and will look great on all shapes and sizes! As someone who has experienced pregnancy I realize it can be difficult to feel photogenic :0 I look forward to building my collection of gowns to suit every mama’s unique taste and style 🙂

Ella | Norman Newborn Photographer

Ella was such a joy to photograph! Her grandma contacted me hoping to set up a last-minute shoot and I’m so thankful I was available 🙂 My favorite shot from her session was this pose, named “Huck Finn” in photography circles, and she rocked it! I love classic poses, but I’m always up for something new if Baby is up to it. I’m hoping to make more time for blogging in this busy season! Look for a newsletter with tips for displaying your photos at home, too!

Voice Competition 2017

I’ve been on “break” for the first half of summer, but I have been busier than ever! Over the past 6 weeks I’ve viewed hours of post processing videos that I purchased from the talented mother of 11 (!) Lisa Holloway, submitted photos to various contests including Voice, updated my website/storefront, and finally started editing pictures from my Project365. Whew! August is typically my busiest month for newborns, and sure enough I have a few mamas on the books; I can’t wait to share highlights from their upcoming sessions!

In the meantime, here are some images I have submitted for Voice. The categories change slightly every year, and my favorites for this year are “movement”, “decisive moment”, “joy”, and “environments”:)
